Good Evening Third Grade Community,
Here’s the week at a glance:
Wednesday-PICTURE DAY! Brush those pearly whites and get ready to smile for the camera:)
Walk-a-thon: We’re having a competition! The third grade class who has the most students bring in at least $10.00 or more wins! Remember, $10 gets you the class t-shirt to wear on walk-a-thon day in October.
October Scholastic coming soon… (please remember with your purchase, our class gets points which are free books for our classroom library! 🙂
This week, we begin unit 1 week 4. Our main story genre is an expository text, which is a type of nonfiction. It’s entitled, “Supermarket.” We read the stories on the second day, after we have reviewed the story vocabulary, spelling pattern, and comprehension skill. This week, we are comparing and contrasting literary elements, as well as text to text.
Please make sure your child is reading 100 minutes weekly. Thank you to those who turn in your logs weekly! I even have students reading OVER 100 minutes a week! Way to go!
Chapter 1 tests will go home later this week. Today, we officially started chapter 3, multiplication. We are “bumping” chapter 2 until a later time this year (charts, graphs, etc.)
Homework reminder: Homework is practice. Until I feel students are comfortable, multiplication homework will not go home. Students will review recent skills. This allows them to be independent on homework and keeps those previously learned skills fresh. 🙂
We will continue to explore the duties of a Scientist, the tools, and look at the Scientific Method.
We are working on map skills
HEADPHONES–please send your child to school with headphones for use on chromebooks.
Have a wonderful night!
